DJ Fronter Bell Drugged Craft Music The latest release on Tomcraft's imprint comes from young Colombian talent DJ Fronter, fresh off the back of his second release for UMEK's 1605 Music Therapy imprint. It wastes no time in stating its intent. Bell Drugged rapidly explodes into a stomping tech groove, super snappy swung percussion lacing an ominous steamroller of a sub bass b-line. The first breakdown soon arrives, the low end filtered out with pitch-shifting cymbal rides and large-scale atmospherics taking its place. Thrown into the heart of the track thereafter, we're in definite warehouse territory 2 nu skool shuffle meeting old skool darkness. From hereon in, it's an exercise in contrast, those disorientating breaks providing the perfect counterweight for the meaty groove. Diego Quintero teams up with Fronter on the B-side for Rendez-Vous Sur La Lune, an equally powerful proposition. The track focuses around a seductive flamenco guitar sample, delayed and reversed masterfully to create a heady breakdown 2 before an unstoppable beast of a groove thunders its way in. Once again, it's all about low-down bass rumbling away, with subtle key changes therein, and super-sized builds. Discordant stabs pepper the main break, providing a final rhythmic element when the beat drops back in. File under 'F' for 'fierce'...
